βThe most powerful person in the world is the storyteller. The storyteller sets the vision, values, and agenda of an entire generation that is to come,β said Steve Jobs. A good orator not only grabs the attention of the crowd, but also leads it in the right direction with his well-balanced words.
Catholic Sabha has been conducting elocution competition since several years and there is no denying that for many a Catholic leader, this elocution competition has been the stepping stone. Angelore is no exception to this trend. Many Angeloreans, who participated in the elocution competition right from their childhood, have reached unimaginable heights in their career.
To train the future leaders of the community, the Catholic Sabha Angelore Unit organised a workshop on public speaking on the evening of 7th July 2024 in association with Catholic Sabha City Deanery at the Golden Jubilee Memorial Hall. A total of 40 children and youth β 28 from Angelore and 12 from other units of the City Deanery β along with their parents participated in the workshop.
Mr. Roshan Patrao, President of Catholic Sabha Angelore Unit, welcomed the gathering. In his keynote address, Rev. Fr Fredrick Monteiro, the Spiritual Director of Catholic Sabha Angelore Unit, highlighted the importance of being a good speaker and reiterated that a leader is one who speaks fearlessly in front of a gathering.
Two renowned and accomplished teachers of Angelore, Mrs. Philomena Tauro and Mr. Paul Rodrigues, enlightened the children and youth on how to prepare a speech and put their point across to the gathering. At the end of the session, a mock session was held to enable the children to speak spontaneously.
Deviating from the usual practice, the Vote of Thanks was given by one of the participants. In the end, the participants departed with a sense of accomplishment.
