PALM SUNDAY 2024

The Lenten Season plays an important role in the spirituality of a Believer. It is the time of Fasting and purification of the soul in preparation for the resurrection of Jesus Christ; and the Holy Week marks its final stage. Palm Sunday marks the first day of the Holy Week. It commemorates the triumphal entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem. Leaves of the date palm or twigs other local trees are blessed and taken in procession. The Priest, representing Jesus Christ, leads the procession with the devotees following him, singing hymns.

The parishioners of Angelore celebrated Palm Sunday on 24th March 2024. The volunteers distributed the palm leaves as the parishioners entered the Guardian Angel Higher Primary School premises. During the short prayer service, the palm leaves were blessed and a reading from the Gospel was read. After the prayer service, the Faithful proceeded to the church in procession led by Mr. Paul Rodrigues, Vice President of PPC, followed by Rev. Fr William Menezes and Rev. Fr Jerald Pinto. The altar servers, religious sisters, children and adults followed the procession. Rev. Fr William Menezes and Rev. Fr Jerald Pinto concelebrated the Holy Eucharist. The members of various parish organisations led the liturgy.
