Welcome to the new Parish Priest
On the 4th June 2018 at on 4th June 2018 at 4 p.m. Rev Fr William Menezes from Bishop's House, accompanied by other priests and his friends arrived at the Church Of The Guardian Angel. He was given a warm welcome by the Parish Priest Rev Fr Mathew Vas, Rev Fr Denzil Lobo, Assistant Parish Priest, all the members of the Parish Council and the Parish community.
In the presence of Rev Fr Henry Sequeira, the Chancellor of the Mangalore Diocese Fr William Menezes took charge as the Parish priest from Fr Mathew Vas. As a mark of Church Ministry, a stole, Holy Bible, the keys of the Tabernacle, records of the church family, and Church property were also handed over to the new Parish Priest by Rev Fr Matthew Vas.
From the Paschal Candle Fr William lit several other Candles and handed them over to all members of the Parish Council and together took an oath that they would carry on the mission of the church with each other’s Corporation.
After taking charge as the parish priest, Fr William said, “I am overwhelmed by the reception given to me by the parishioners. When I entered the church compound, I felt a positive spirit and joyful atmosphere around me. I feel that Fr Mathew Vas has been an inspiration for all of you. The love you showered on him itself proves how you respect our priests and religious. As a servant of God, it is my duty to serve his people.”
Welcoming the new parish priest Fr Mathew Vas said, "I experienced the greatness and love of the parishioners of Angelore. Being a God fearing community, they always worked hard for their parish. The unity and coordination is the main strength of Angelore parish. So definitely, Fr William will like this place. Meanwhile, Angelore parishioners are lucky to get a priest like Fr William. Being a multi- talented, soft spoken and trouble shooter, he has always been close to people.”
Fr Walter D’Mello, judicial vicar, Mangaluru diocese, Fr Vijay Victor, procurator of diocese and a large number of parishioners were present.
