Some years ago, a teacher of a French primary school asked the students, “From where do we get milk?” The answer given by a student rang alarm bells not only in the minds of the teacher and the school management, but also the government. The child said, “From Auchan.” Auchan is a French supermarket chain that operates in several countries across the world. The government went into huddle and brought radical changes in the French education system, thanks to which the French education today is considered one of the best in the world.
Occasionally spending some time in nature not only refreshes the mind and rejuvenates it, but also provides firsthand knowledge of the environment and nature to children and adults alike. Today we have innumerable natural outlets to familiarise ourselves with nature and rejuvenate ourselves.
On Sunday, 5th November 2023, fifty-three members of Lourdes Ward II set out to Caribbean Beach Resort near Mulky to spend a day together on the lap of nature. They embarked on the journey at 9.15 a.m. from Mangalore and reached the picnic spot at 9.45 a.m. After sumptuous breakfast, they spent the time playing games, interacting with each other, and playing in the pristine backwaters. Those born in November were wished a happy birthday. Sumptuous snacks, lunch and tea with snacks were served. Everybody had a good time and the day was wrapped up with Housie Housie. The wonderful moments of togetherness were captured by young Neil Fernandes, Mrs Shanti Pinto and Riya D’Souza. The ward members returned home with wonderful memories.
