St. Gabriel Ward I celebrated Ward Day and elected its ward representatives for 2023-25 on 20th November 2022 at the residence of Mrs. Celine Menezes.
The programme commenced at 6.00 pm with the election of ward representatives. Ms. Renita Menezes and Mr. Ronald Veigas were elected ward representatives. Further, Mrs. Felcy D’Souza was elected Small Christian Community representative, Mrs. Shanthi Pinto Aanj representative and Mrs. Hilda Saldana was elected Liturgy secretary.
Rev. Fr William Menezes, Parish Priest; Rev. Fr Lawrence Cutinha, Assistant Parish Priest; Mr. Noel Pinto, Vice President of Parish Pastoral Council; Mrs. Lolina D’Souza, Secretary of Parish Pastoral Council; Mr. Roshan Patrao, Coordinator of 21 Commissions and Mrs. Jyothi Dias, Convener of Central Council of Small Christian Communities graced the occasion.
The programme commenced with a short prayer service. Gurkar Mr. Denis D’Souza welcomed the gathering. Secretary of the ward Mrs. Lavita Lobo presented the report of the past year. On this grand occasion, the senior couple Mr. John and Mrs. Daisy D’Souza; senior member of the ward Mr. Leo D’Souza; and bundle of talents Ms. Wencita Dias were felicitated. In his message, the Parish Priest lauded the talents and achievements of the ward members.
As part of the entertainment dances and skit were presented by the ward members. The young and the old alike participated in the games with equal enthusiasm. About 125 members of the ward participated in the day’s programme. Mr. Jeethan D’Souza and Ms. Kim Noronha compèred the cultural programme.
The programme concluded with sumptuous fellowship meal. Ms. Renita Menezes gave the vote of thanks. Ms. Wencita Dias compèred the formal programme.
