The Annual Parish Feast of the Guardian Angel Church
The Annual Parish Feast of The Guardian Angel Church was celebrated in an atmosphere of devotion and gaiety on Tuesday, October 2, 2018.
Prior to the solemn concelebrated Festal Mass, Fr. William Menezes, the parish priest distributed the ‘candles of Honour’ to all the members of the parish Pastoral Council consisted of Gurkars, representatives of the wards, presidents of various parish associations and the sponsors of the annual feast. Mr. Roshan Patrao, the Vice President of the Parish Pastoral Council and Mrs. Dora Rodrigues, the Secretary of the Parish Pastoral Council, read out the list of names.
Most Rev Dr Aloysius Paul D Souza, Bishop Emeritus, Diocese of Mangalore was the main celebrant of the Solemn Festal Mass. Rev Dr. Antony Prakash Montero, preached the Homily. Former Vicar, V Rev Fr Matthew Vas, Rev Fr Benjamin Pinto, Rev Fr James Souza, Rev Fr Denis Souza, Rev Fr Victor Souza, Rev Fr Vijay Lobo, Rev Fr Benjamin Souza and others were present. At the end of the Eucharistic Celebration, Fr. William thanked the Bishop for his twenty two years of dedicated service to the Diocese in turn for our parish too. Along with the vice president and secretary of the PPC, he offered a floral bouquet to the Bishop as a mark of appreciation and gratitude. In response, the bishop thanked Fr. William and parishioners not forgetting to advise them to build up families of prayer and not to miss the family prayer of Rosary. He extended His festive greetings to all.
After greeting the priests and the parishioners, Vicar Fr William Menezes, thanked everyone for their contribution, their co-operation and participation.
A number of devotees were found lighting candles near the statue of Guardian Angel in front of the church. The stall of the ICYM with varieties of lucky games was the chief attraction of the festive revelers.
