A training programme for the members of the Parish Pastoral Council and Small Christian Community was held on 28th March 2023 at the Golden Jubilee Memorial Hall. The training programme commenced at 6.00 p.m. Rev. Fr Anthony Sera, Secretary, Catholic Board of Education and Rev. Fr Joachim Fernandes, Diocesan Director of Small Christian Community were the resource persons. The training began with the enthronement of the Bible followed by a prayer service.
In the first session, Rev. Fr Anthony Sera explained that “the mission of the Lord is carried out in the Church through a hierarchical structure.” He said that the structure in the Church exists to serve, and not to govern or rule. He gave the scriptural perspective on the pastor and pastoral ministry. He guided the members of the Parish Pastoral Council on how to support the Church and collaborate with the Parish Priest in building the Synodal Church.
In the second session, Rev. Fr Joachim Fernandes, SCC Director of Mangalore Diocese, enlightened the participants on the meaning, history, duties and the foundation text of the Small Christian Community. The attributes of Small Christian Community were effectively explicated through PowerPoint presentation.
The training concluded with dinner.
