“A teacher takes the hand; opens the mind; and touches the heart”
Teachers’ day was celebrated with immense joy and gratitude for all teachers of parish at Guardian Angel Church, Angelore on 4th September 2022.
The celebration began by invoking God’s blessings on all teachers through the Holy Eucharist offered by Rev. Fr. William Menezes, Parish Priest. The liturgy was conducted by the teachers. Fr. William Menezes in his homily emphasised that “Jesus is the greatest teacher of truth and life who shows us the way that leads to happiness.” He also emphasised that all should follow the example of Jesus and be dedicated to the profession.
A short programme was organised for teachers by the Education Commission of the parish in association with the ever-enthusiastic youth of the Angelore Youth Movement (AYM) in the Golden Jubilee Hall. Rev. Fr. William Menezes, Parish Priest; Rev Fr. Lawrence Cutinha, Assistant Parish Priest; Ms. Renita Menezes, Chief guest of the day, Mr. Noel Pinto, Vice President of the Parish Pastoral Council; Mrs. Lolina D’Souza, Secretary of the Parish Pastoral Council; Mr. Paul Rodrigues, Convener of the Education Commissiongraced the dais.
Ms. Shainy Pinto welcomed the gathering and Mr. Sohan D’Sa introduced the chief guest. In her address to the gathering, Ms. Renita Menezes shared the joy and her experiences of being a teacher and elaborated on how teaching is considered to be one of the noblest professions. Teachers are the ones who play an important role in students; life and they are responsible for moulding the future generation.
Ms. Alisha D’Souza and Mr. Kieth Noronha conducted various games and entertained the audience. Ms. Prathiksha D’Souza and team dazzled the audience with a dance performance and Ms. Bindu Cutinha and team presented a melodious song in honour of the teachers. Fr. William Menezes presented a memento to all the teachers as a token of love and wished the teachers on their special day. Vea Mascarenhas compèred the entire programme.
