New Year is the time to leave the past behind and make new resolution from the lessons learnt in the past year. The Catholic Church also observes the New Year day as the World Day of Peace, dedicated to universal peace. As the curtains were down on 2023 the Faithful of Guardian Angel Church bid adieu to past year and welcomed 2024 with devotion and joy.
It is customary in the Diocese of Mangalore to thank God for the abundant blessings bestowed upon him in the past year and seek His blessings for the next year. Keeping with this tradition, the New Year celebrations of Guardian Angel Church commenced with adoration of the Blessed Sacrament at 7.00 p.m.
Main celebrant of the Holy Eucharist, Rev. Fr Vincent D’Souza, Secretary of CODP, led the Adoration. The celebration of the Holy Eucharist ensued at 7.30 p.m. Rev. Fr Vincent D’Souza concelebrated the mass with Rev. Fr William Menezes, Parish Priest; Rev. Fr Jerald Pinto, Socius Vicar; and Rev. Fr Felix Moras.
After the celebration of Holy Eucharist the parishioners exchanged greetings of the New Year and wished well to each other. To entertain the parishioners, the members of Young Catholic Students movement conducted Housie-Housie. After the entertainment, the parishioners left for their homes carrying in their hearts the hope of Jesus Christ.
