The members of St. Raphael Ward II celebrated the feast of nativity on 11th September 2022 at 5.30 pm at the residence of Mrs. Anna Maria. The celebration commenced by bringing the Holy Bible in procession and prayer service. The prayer service also included invoking the blessings of God with dance rendition to the hymn “Mhozo Athmo Somiyachi Vadvik Gaatha”.
Rev. Fr. Lawrence Cutinha, Assistant Parish Priest, was the Chief Guest of the programme. Mr. Michael D’Souza welcomed the guests and members of the ward. Children honoured Mother Mary by offering flowers along with a dance.
The occasion also marked the honouring of ex-Gurkars, ward representatives, and those who had excelled in academics and professional life by Rev. Fr. Lawrence Cutinha. In his message Fr. Lawrence appreciated the all round active participation of the members.
Various games were organised for the young and the old alike. All ward members actively participated in the games. Gurkar Mrs. Ida D’Mello distributed the prizes to the winners. Mr. Robert D’Souza said grace before the meals. The meals were prepared by the ward members at home. While the gathering relished the meals ward members entertained them with songs and dance. The programme ended with the favourite dance form, the Baila.
Mrs. Ida D’Mello proposed the vote of thanks. Mrs. Winnifred Misquith compèred the programme.
