The Paschal Triduum begins with Maundy Thursday, which commemorates the institution of Eucharist by Jesus Christ during the Last Supper. The Catholic Church also observes this as the day of instituting the sacrament of Holy Orders.
The celebration of Holy Eucharist began at 6.30 pm with procession led by Mr. Paul Rodrigues, Vice President of the PPC. Rev. Fr William Menezes, Parish Priest and Rev. Fr Lawrence Cutinha, Assistant Parish Priest, concelebrated the mass. The liturgy was conducted by parishioners chosen from different wards. In his homily, Rev. Fr Lawrence Cutinha dwelt on the theme, “Eucharist, the centre of Christian life.” He washed the feet of twelve parishioners chosen as apostles, symbolising the simplicity which Jesus Christ stood for. The choir aided the faithful participate in the Eucharistic celebration meaningfully and with devotion.
After the Eucharistic celebration, the Holy Eucharist was placed in the Altar of Repose. The parishioners participated in the adoration in front of the Altar of Repose till midnight.
