Guardian Angel Church, Angelore, Mangalore, celebrated the 78th Independence Day with grandeur on 15th August 2024. The programme organised by Angelore Youth Movement (AYM) resonated with the spirit of unity, patriotism, and hope.
The dignitaries on the dais included Chief Guest Rev. Fr Frederick Monteiro; Socius Priest Rev. Fr Stany Fernandes; Vice President of the Parish Pastoral Council, Mr. Paul Rodrigues; Secretary Mrs. Lolina D’Souza; Coordinator of 21 Commissions, Ms. Renita Menezes. The programme began with a soulful prayer song, setting the tone for the celebration. Mr. Rayan Lobo, President of AYM, extended a warm welcome to the gathering. The national flag was hoisted by Chief Guest Rev. Fr. Frederick Monteiro, escorted by Cadet Ishon Pinto, amidst thunderous applause. Ms. Janice Crasta introduced the Chief Guest, highlighting his achievements and contributions. Chief guest Rev. Fr Frederick Monteiro delivered a thought-provoking speech, emphasizing the significance of Independence Day, the importance of unity and responsible citizenship. The audience was treated to a mesmerizing patriotic song, showcasing the vocal talents of the participants. Secretary of Pastoral Council Mrs. Lolina D’Souza shared a brief yet impactful message, reinforcing the importance of independence and community service.
Mr. Shaun D’Sa expressed gratitude to all parishioners with his heartfelt vote of thanks. The programme was expertly compèred by Ms. Alvisha D’Souza, ensuring a seamless and engaging flow. The celebration concluded with the distribution of sweets to all present, symbolizing the sweetness of freedom and unity.
