INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATION 2023

Guardian Angel Church, Angelore, Mangalore, celebrated the 77th Independence Day with grandeur. The programme was organised by Angelore Youth Movement (AYM) of the parish that resonated with the spirit of unity, patriotism, and hope.

It is customary to choose an eminent person of the society, who has made his/her mark in the society, as chief guest for the Independence Day celebrations. Keeping with the tradition, a well-known personality of the parish was chosen as the chief guest of the programme, except that she has the distinction of being the youngest chief guest for the Independence Day celebration.

Ms. Bindu Cutinha, the Chief Guest, needs no introduction. Her melodious voice has enthralled every parishioner watching her performance on stage and in the church. She has excellent track record on the academic front as well. A multi-faceted personality, Ms. Bindu Cutinha is an exemplary person for the youth of the parish to emulate.

Ms. Cutinha hoisted the National Flag, flanked by Rev. Fr William Menezes, the Parish Priest; Rev. Fr Jerald Pinto, Socius; and other dignitaries. In her message she called upon the youth to awaken and follow the footsteps of the valiant forefathers who fought for the country's freedom. She emphasized the importance of working collectively to transform our nation into a veritable heaven on earth, embodying the ideals our freedom fighters held dear. In his Presidential address, the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr William Menezes called upon the young and old alike to join hands in building the nation.

The programme was compèred by Ms. Reevina Fernandes. Mr. Sohan D’Sa, President of AYM, welcomed the gathering; Ms. Iyola D’Silva introduced the Chief Guest and Ms. Vea Mascarenhas delivered the vote of thanks. At the conclusion of the programme sweets were distributed to those gathered.
