Advent is the season of spiritual preparation for the celebration of Christ our Savior’s birth. It is also the time of eagerly awaiting the second coming of the Savior and commemorating his first birth. The Christmas wreath helps us meaningfully prepare for His second coming. The wreath made of pine leaves has five candles in the middle, which signify the four Sundays of the Advent. The four coloured candles are symbol of hope, love, happiness and peace. The fifth candle, which is white, is lit on the day of Christmas. It signifies that Christ is born among us.
The Advent season was inaugurated at Guardian Angel Church during the 7.30 a.m. mass on 3rd December 2023. The Parish Priest, Rev. Fr William Menezes lit the purple candle and inaugurated the season of Advent.
