"The catechism was not written to please you. It will not make life easy for you, because it demands of you a new life," said Pope Benedict XVI.
The new catechism year 2024-25 was inaugurated with an awe-inspiring and grandiose Eucharistic celebration on 2nd June 2024 at 9:30 a.m. The mass commenced with a spectacular procession of children led by parents, catechism teachers and the celebrant of the Eucharist.
The inaugural included with children standing on the altar facing the gathering and parents, grandparents, teachers and priests behind them.
The parents joined the hands of children teaching them to pray and the priest and catechism teachers presented the children with Bible, Rosary and catechism reader as a symbol of life of Jesus and his mother, Blessed Virgin Mary.
The theme for this year is "Lord, teach us to pray."
During the mass, the parents, children and catechism teachers took oath.
The catechism teachers led the liturgy. Rev. Fr William Menezes, Parish Priest and Rev. Fr Gerald Francis Pinto, Socius concelebrated the Eucharist. After the mass children were treated with their favourite ice cream.
