The new catechism year was inaugurated with grandeur on 4th June 2023 during the 9.30 a.m. mass. The mass commenced with grand procession of children with lamp and bowl, parents with bible, catechism teachers with burning lamps, and Parish Priest with water. The inauguration included children standing on the altar facing the gathering with lamp and bowl; parents standing behind them with their hand on the child’s shoulder. The Parish Priest poured water – the source of life – into the bowls, signifying the Word of God as the source of our life.
The theme of the day was: ‘Sunday Catechism – inspiration to build good Christian families.’ During the mass, the Catechism teachers took oath. The Catechism teachers led the liturgy. Rev. Fr William Menezes, Parish Priest and Rev. Fr Gerald Francis Pinto, Socius, concelebrated the mass. After the mass, ice cream was distributed to the children.
