Lent is a season of prayer, fasting and charity. It is a time to sacrifice through penance, to seek greater intimacy with God in prayer, and give to those in need.
Hence, 17 members of Gabriel Ward II visited Karunamaya Ashram on 30th April 2023 as an act of service and charity from the savings made during Lent. Mr Elias, the owner of the old age home welcomed the ward members. There were 15 elderly people in the ashram with whom the ward members spent time. The inmates gladly shared their experiences of life.
Mr Elias briefed about the Ashram, stating how they serve the elderly and sick irrespective of their religion, caste or place. The programme began with the recitation of the prayer with devotional song. Games and activities were conducted for recreation with active participation from all.
Snacks were distributed to the inmates and groceries were donated to the Ashram by the ward members. As a mark of gratitude, the Ashram presented a memento to the visitors. Overall it was a great experience.
