FEAST OF NATIVITY OF BLESSED VIRGIN MARY

The nine-day preparation for the feast of Nativity of Blessed Virgin Mary culminated with celebration of the feast in grandeur by the parishioners on 8th September 2023. The Faithful gathered at Guardian Angel Higher Primary School at 7.30 a.m. to offer flowers to Mother Mary and bless the new harvest. During the short prayer service, the Gospel was read, the new produce was blessed and flowers were offered to Infant Mary.

The parishioners then proceeded to the Church in procession with Gurkars carrying the new harvest. Rev. Fr William Menezes, Parish Priest concelebrated the mass with Rev. Fr Gerald Pinto and Rev. Fr Joel Vas.

At the end of the Eucharistic celebration, the new produce was distributed to the parishioners. After the mass the parishioners greeted each other while savouring the traditional delicacy of the coast – ವೊರ್ನ್ - distributed by the members of Stree Sanghatan.

The feast of Nativity is incomplete without sugarcane. Keeping with the age old tradition, the members of Angelore Youth Movement distributed sugarcanes to children and adults alike.

The liturgy of the day was led by the gurkars. The members of Young Catholic Students, Angelore Youth Movement and Parish Pastoral Council joined hands in making sure that everything went on well.
