The Young Catholic Students (YCS), of Angelore Unit, successfully organized Aqua Fiesta 2026, an inter-ward water sports event, on Sunday, July 19, at the Guardian Angel Church Grounds. The programme saw enthusiastic participation from children, youth, adults and senior citizens, making it a vibrant celebration of fellowship, unity and community spirit.
Inaugural Programme
Registration began at 2:30 PM, followed by the inaugural ceremony. The event opened with a prayer song led by Ms Avina D’Ssouza along with the YCS members, invoking God’s blessings.
Ms Princia D’Silva warmly welcomed the gathering. The programme was presided over by Rev. Fr Fedrick Monteiro, Parish Priest of Guardian Angel Church.
Dignitaries present included Rev. Fr Fedrick Monteiro, Parish Priest; Mr Roshan Patro, Vice President, PPC; Ms Renita Menezes, Secretary, PPC; Mrs Jacintha Pinto, Coordinator of Parish Pastoral Commissions; Mr Anup Denzil Veigas and Ms Sweedal Pais, YCS Animators; and Ms Vival Jasnia Serrao, President, YCS Angelore Unit.
In his inaugural address, Rev. Fr Fedrick Monteiro appreciated the YCS members for their initiative and encouraged all to participate with enthusiasm, fostering teamwork, sportsmanship and unity within the parish community. Ms Zenita Pinto compèred the programme with confidence and enthusiasm.
Fun, Games and Fellowship
A variety of exciting water games and fun-filled competitions were organized for children, youth, adults and senior citizens. The activities created an atmosphere of joy, laughter and healthy competition, encouraging teamwork, leadership, discipline and active participation.
The enthusiastic involvement of parishioners from all wards added to the vibrancy and success of the event. The dedicated efforts of the YCS members in planning and coordinating ensured the smooth conduct of the programme.
St. Raphael Second Ward won the championship while Sacred Heart Ward were the runners up.
A Memorable Success
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Ms Sanvita Misquith, the Secretary of YCS, expressing sincere gratitude to the clergy, dignitaries, participants, volunteers and everyone who contributed to the successful organization of the event.
Overall, Aqua Fiesta 2026 was a grand success, strengthening fellowship, unity and the spirit of togetherness among the parishioners of Guardian Angel Church, Angelore.
