Annual day of Saint Vincent De Paul society
On 7th October 2018, the Angelore Vincent De Paul society celebrated their 47th annual day with a thanksgiving mass at 7:30 A.M in the Church.
After the Mass, a get together program was conducted in the Parish Hall. All the members of the SVP together with their benefactors, donors and Foster families were present. Fr William Menezes presided over the function Fr. Denzil Lobo, Mr. George Borromeo, Mr. Roshan Patrao, Mrs. Dora Rodrigues were also on the dais.
Mr. Bernard D’Souza the president of the SVP, welcomed the gathering Mr. George Borromeo spoke about the mission of the SVP and highlighted various services they render to the poor and needy. He also said that their priority at present is to educate children of their foster families there by helping them to stand on their own.
Fr William Menezes, in his message congratulated the SVP congregation and appreciated their efforts in educating children “Teach them to catch fish rather than feeding them with fish”, he said. Mr. William Pinto Mr. Michael Vas and Mr. Jossy D’Souza were felicitated for their 25 years of selfless service in the society.
At 11:30 noon the members of SVP and all family members of the foster of families met again in the Church Hall for recreation programme. Mrs. Hilda Lobo and Gladys Coelho conducted many games. Everyone took part in the games followed by singing and dancing and enjoyed the day. Children had a happy time. The fellowship meal that followed strengthened the bond between the SVP members and their foster families.
Mrs. Cynthia D’Souza compared the program and Mr. Denis D'Souza proposed the vote of thanks.
